Thanksgiving Day

ThanksGiving Day

Irena Sendlerowa. Yes, you may have never heard of her name, but after I have told you what she did, you will want to find out more!

Irena Sendlerowa is a woman who saved 2,500, not 250, 2,500 children. She could not resist seeing thousands of jews going to death camp every day. And so she took action and went to save and rescue the children. It took her 18 months, a year, and six months to save these children while risking her life without any protection. She hid more than 2,500 jews under stretchers, suitcases, body bags, and more. Even though being rescued by Irena, their presence was still on the edge of the cliff. It is a death to hide a Jew. But later on, she got arrested. The Gestapo tortured her. They even decided to kill her. Fortunately, the Polish underground organization spent a lot of money to buy an execution soldier to rescue her. She kept her name unknown, and she has lived like an ordinary person for 53 years.

What I learned from her was that she never thought about herself, putting herself in danger. She put the Jews first. She put the children, families first. Other than that, she kept a low profile. After saving 2,500 children, she didn't want to be 'famous.' She didn't need people to thank her. She kept her name unknown. And that's what people should do; if you help or do a good deed to someone, good things will happen to you in return.
